As a Politics or International Relations student there will be many job options available to you when you graduate, both inside and outside the political world. Your time with us will equip you with a breadth of abilities desirable to employers across a variety of industry areas.

You degree will teach you how to be analytical, develop your writing and research ability, boost your confidence in expressing opinions articulately, provide political knowledge and deepen your understanding of human psychology and society.  Participating in the wider activities of College life will give you additional skills and experience

All of these things are invaluable to a range of employers, across many of the sectors.  You may wish to have a career in politics. However, just because you study politics doesn’t mean that you have to work in politics: 60% of graduates are in jobs not directly related to their degree subject.  As a Politics or International Relations student your grasp of psychology and society could fit you for a management trainee scheme, your writing skills for journalism or advertising, your research experience for market research – take a look at what some former students have gone on to do:

    Journalist for the BBC.

    Recruitment consultant.
    Client account associate for PwC.
    Marketing manager for The Economist.

Choosing to study Politics or International Relations at Queen Mary will not only enable you to engage with a topic which interests you for three years, but it will also strongly develop your potential to gain employment in a variety of areas when you graduate.
